Finally back home...

Wed Jun 25, 2008, 2:18 AM
My 1 month artist residency in Hong Kong went smoothly and well.

I'm now working on the documentation and also catching up on work in the studio.

Many friends were found during the trip. I can only guess when I will meet them again.

Born on 1979 in Singapore, Desmond Teo (aka Dezzo) graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (with Honors) in Fine Art with Contemporary Writing, from Huddersfield University, United Kingdom in 2006 and had previously attained a Diploma in Western Painting from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 2005.

He has since explored and presented his signature – ‘monumental-readymade’ sculptures at public spaces which include tickleart in 2008; a public art showcase at Citylink Mall, Singapore and Singapore Arts Street in 2007; an art festival at Tanglin Shopping Centre, Singapore.

He has been involved in group exhibitions and his art practice extends to a series of public collaborative projects such as A Fruitful Year (wall mural), at Singapore General Hospital and Max’s Café (wall mural), Sunshine Plaza, Singapore; Go Green Be Happy! (wall mural with a wall made from cardboard boxes and workshop), Jurong Point Shopping Center, Singapore.

His apparent trait – a conscious study in ‘materialism’ landed him a NAFA Fine Art Award nomination in 2007 while pursuing his Bachelor of Arts.

His recent artist residency in 1A Space, Hong Kong, along with two fellow artists, was well received by both artists and curators in Hong Kong.

Dezzo is currently a full time artist, an assistant to Singapore veteran artist, Susie Wong's primary school assembly programmes and a consignment based miniature painter.

He is also working on his first solo exhibition. Estimated to be held in 2020.

I saw your minatures painting in a forum. Its really cool! I always love minatures. I used to keep Micromachines until they stopped production. Keep up the good work on the paints.
